I'm excited to be a part of Kim Faison's upcoming Brocante. If you're not familiar with the term, you are not alone. A "brocante" is just another way of saying flea market. But this event that has been a tradition for 7 years in Richmond, Virginia promises to a bit more sensational than your run of the mill flea market. It's a compilation of professional dealers from all over the Eastern Seaboard. Kim is one of the most respected importers of rare and early English, Scandinavian and Continental European antiques. Her wide network of friends and dealers affords a peak in to so many historical genres and unique finds.
The term Brocante is believed to have come from the Dutch word "brok", meaning a fragment of something. If you are anything like me, sifting through an array of bric-a-brak and lost treasures is a thrill. Walking through Kim's warehouse affords an array of faience and hard paste porcelain, painted cabinets, hand carved art frames and the most unusual European sourced antiques. Dealers like Open Sky Antiques, Peace and Plenty, Apropos and Gore Dean will be bringing their most recent finds. For a full list click on the link below.
