Have you ever thought, I should hang something there? I have several empty wall spaces that could use a little love and attention. Gallery walls are all the rage and continue to delight and charm. Collections of art, both big and small, precious or not can animate the houses we live in adding interest, depth and personality.
While typically gallery walls are hung to fill up large empty wall spaces, tucking a gallery wall into a corner or pass through is another great way to add character. Take a look at some of these gallery walls by my favorite designers. This "pass through" looks much more interesting with its mish mash of art on a crisp blue painted wall. In another project by Mathison , note how an antique oil portrait hangs happily amongst children's art and a modern mirror framing this window in an alcove. Art is definitely the soul of a house.

French decorator Marin Montagut transforms bland walls with found objects and collections, mixing and matching all sorts of beautiful treasures. Check out his book, "Collections Extraordinaire", for display inspiration.
Two of his "installs" are featured below.

I love mixing in sculptural pieces like this paper mache bouquet below or adding antique Mexican nichos like Montagut has done above.
Insert art where it’s least expected like this seascape in a kitchen.
Charming accents like these always have a place in the home. Mix them with fresh flowers, patterned textiles, books and more traditional art and you have a magazine ready photo. Above and below are some of my recent sculpturall works that would look great mixed in with other art. Enjoy!
